PunchMe employee app for Android and iPhone
Updated 2026-11-07
What it is
The PunchMe employee app is the phone app your staff use to punch in and out, see their attendance, apply for leave and get payslips. It is called PunchMe in the app stores. Owners and HR use a different app, PunchMe Manager, or the web dashboard.
The app has four tabs at the bottom: Home, Attendance, Leaves and Profile. Android and iPhone have the same screens.
The app is in English.
Who uses it
- Employees who punch from their own phone.
- Not owners or HR. They use the dashboard or the Manager app.
- Staff without a smartphone can punch on a shared office kiosk instead.
Where to find it
- Android: Google Play. Search for "PunchMe".
- iPhone: the iPhone app has the same features. If the download page still says it is coming soon, iPhone users can punch on an office kiosk for now.
You sign in with your work email. There is no password.
- Open the app and type the work email your company added for you.
- Tap Send sign-in code. We email you a 6-digit code.
- Type the code, tap Paste code, or tap Open email app to find it. The app signs you in as soon as all 6 digits are in.
Good to know:
- The code works for 10 minutes. You can try it 5 times.
- You can ask for a new code after 45 seconds. You can ask for at most 5 codes in 10 minutes.
- There is no SMS code and no company code.
- If your email is not accepted, ask HR to check the email on your profile. Your profile must be active.
Your phone is registered on first sign-in
The first time you sign in, the app registers your phone for punching. You see "Registering this phone…" for a moment. After that, only this phone can punch for you.
- Your Profile tab shows "This phone is registered for punching since" a date.
- On a new phone, or after you reinstall the app, sign-in says your account is registered on another phone. Ask HR to Reset device, then sign in again.
Read more in Device binding.
Home tab
Home is where you punch.
Top row
- A greeting with your first name.
- A bell next to the PunchMe logo, top right. Tap it to see For you, your own updates such as leave, correction and expense decisions (unread first; tap one to mark it read), and Notices from your company. A red dot means an unread update or a notice you have not opened yet. See Notices.
Punch card
The big dark card shows the live time and one button:
| Button | When you see it |
|---|---|
| Check in | You have not checked in today |
| Check out | You are checked in |
| Set up face | Your company uses face check and you have not set it up yet |
| Done | You checked in and out today |
Under the button, a line tells you where you stand. For example "You're checked in · Since 9:02 · working 3h 10m", "Day complete" or "Day off".
To punch:
- Tap Check in or Check out.
- Allow location the first time. The app explains why before your phone asks.
- If your company uses face check, look at the camera and do the two actions shown, like blink or turn left.
- Wait for the green tick. You feel a short buzz and see "Checked in. Have a great day!" or "Checked out. See you tomorrow!".
If a punch is refused, the message says why. Common reasons are a fake GPS app, weak GPS, or being outside the office area. See Punching, Geofence and GPS and Face check.
Tiles and today's record
- Shift shows your shift times, or "Not set".
- Today shows today's work mode, such as office.
- Today's record shows your status (present, late and so on), check-in time and check-out time.
You may also see:
- A Set up face check card. It takes about 20 seconds.
- A Complete your profile card with a percentage. It says "HR asked you to finish this" if HR sent a reminder.
- A Celebrations card on days when a colleague has a birthday or work anniversary.
Pull down on Home to refresh.
Attendance tab
The Attendance tab shows a month calendar. Coloured days show your status. Use the arrows to change month.
Something wrong? Tap the day to Request a correction. Pick what the day should be, set check-in and check-out times if needed, write a reason and send it. Your requests and HR's replies show under Correction requests. See Corrections.
Leaves tab
- Your balance for each leave type, as "days left" out of your quota.
- Your past and pending requests.
- Apply leave: pick the type, dates and half day if needed, then send.
- Cancel request on a request that is still pending.
See Leaves.
Profile tab
The Profile tab has everything about you and your job.
- Name card with your initials, designation, company, email, employee code and whether face check is set up.
- Work card with your office, shift, department and joining date.
- The line "This phone is registered for punching since…".
- Your details (people hub): bank account, personal details, PAN and UAN, documents, My performance, Loans, Ask PunchMe and company assets given to you. Some changes need HR approval and show "Pending". See Employee profile and Documents.
- Help & HR (HR hub): Raise a ticket, My tasks (joining or exit checklist) and Resignation. See Helpdesk and Onboarding and exit.
- Payslips: one row per month with net pay. Tap to open the full payslip. They appear once payroll is finalised. See Payslips.
- Sign out, and the app version at the bottom.
Ask PunchMe (help bot)
Ask PunchMe is in the Profile tab under Your details. It gives quick answers on attendance, leave and pay, such as your leave balance and upcoming holidays. It uses set answers from your company's help and your own records. It is not AI and it does not send anything to HR. For anything else, raise a ticket.
Punch without internet
No network? You can still punch.
- Tap Check in or Check out as usual.
- The app still checks your face and location.
- You see "Saved on phone — will sync".
The punch syncs by itself when you open the app or the network comes back. It must sync within 72 hours. By default your company reviews offline punches before they count. See Offline punch.
Don't sign out while punches are waiting to sync. Signing out deletes them from the phone.
Notifications
The app can send you alerts for leave decisions, corrections, payslips, notices and shift reminders. On Android 13 and newer, and on iPhone, the app asks for permission the first time. See Notifications.
App updates
When a new version is out, a slim bar at the top says "A new version of PunchMe is available". Tap Update. See App updates.
Signing out
Tap Sign out at the bottom of Profile. You need a new email code to sign in again. Your phone stays registered, so you can sign back in on the same phone without HR.
Limits and edge cases
- One phone per employee. A second phone can't sign in until HR resets the first.
- Reinstalling the app counts as a new phone.
- If HR resets your device, the app signs you out within about 15 minutes.
- Location is used only when you punch or log a client visit. It is not collected in the background unless your company turns on field tracking, which asks you separately.
- If your company blocks punches on holidays and weekly offs, the Home tab shows Day off and the check-in button is greyed out. You can still check out if you checked in before midnight. See Working days and holidays.

Common questions
I didn't get the sign-in code. What now?
Check your spam folder. Wait 45 seconds and tap Resend code. If it still doesn't come, ask HR to check the email on your profile.
The app says my account is registered on another phone.
Your account is linked to a different phone, or you reinstalled the app. Ask HR to tap Reset device on your profile, then sign in again. See Device binding.
Why does the punch button say "Set up face"?
Your company uses face check and you haven't set it up. Tap it and follow the steps. It takes about 20 seconds. See Face check.
Where are my payslips?
Open the Profile tab and scroll to Payslips. A month appears once HR finalises payroll for it.
Can I use the app on two phones?
No. Only one phone can punch for you at a time. HR can move it to a new phone with Reset device.
